SANITATION, SAFETY & INFECTION CONTROL

Safety is a fundamental part of professional PMU practice.

Students will learn:

  • Sharps safety
  • Proper disposal
  • Surface disinfection

Students must follow all applicable state and local laws, licensing requirements, scope-of-practice rules, and health regulations.


CLIENT CONSULTATION

Professional PMU begins before the procedure.

Students will learn how to:

  • Review medical and cosmetic history as appropriate

  • Explain the healing process

  • Activities to avoid during healing
  • When to contact the practitioner

CORRECTIONS & TROUBLESHOOTING

Students will receive an introduction to identifying common PMU challenges, including:

  • Patchy healed areas
  • Previous PMU
  • When correction may be appropriate
  • When to refer a client for removal or advanced correction

Previous permanent makeup should always be evaluated before attempting a new procedure.

COURSE COMPLETION

Upon successful completion of the training requirements, students may receive an AM Permanent Makeup Training Certificate of Completion.

Completion of this course does not automatically grant a professional license or legal authorization to perform PMU services. Students are responsible for meeting all applicable licensing, certification, facility, health, and scope-of-practice requirements before working on clients.
